Rahul chetry faces daylong interrogation

Assam, 20th Mar, 2020: National Investigating Agency today took new witnesses in connection with Akhil Gogoi's NIA led case no. RC-13/2019NIA-GUW dated 14th of December, 2019. In this case NIA was investigating in suspect of "Terrorists Activity" by Akhil Gogoi, the president of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS).

Akhil Gogoi already got bail in this case on 18th of March for NIA drastically failed to furnish any evidence in the Court even after their 91 days' stretch of investigation. So, they are now investigating further with afresh evidence. To record the witness of Mr. Rahul Chetry, the General Secretary of Dibrugarh University Post Graduate Students' Union (DUPGSU), he was summoned a day before yesterday. In response of the summon Mr. Chetry today visited the NIA office at Sonapur, Guwahati, an outskirt area of Guwahati City.

He entered the NIA office at the noon hour and had to undergo an interrogation that lasted for 8 hours. NIA's interrogation was entirely focused on Rahul Chetry's relation with KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi. But Rahul clearly mentioned that he has no relation with KMSS nor with any member of it.

"I answered them their queries very smoothly, and I made it clear that KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi is not in my personal contact. I know him only just like every second person know him as a social leader. We led a protest against Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 as part of our own ideology against it and not because of Akhil Gogoi's influence."
The fearless voice of tomorrow Mr. Chetry concluded the interrogation rather with a smile and said, "Assam opposes CAA and we students have the same stand and are determined to continue our fight against CAA."

Since Akhil Gogoi is in 4 days police custody under Sivsagar police from 18th of March, what consequences follow this witness collection by NIA, will be clear only in coming days.

Rahul Chetry is young and promising leader who is socially active in Assam. He raises his voice in all social causes because he believes that the students have a key role in democracy. While studying in Dibrugarh University, he got a platform to unite his voice with his fellow mates and he got a decorated post in the students' union.
