A Brief Note on Artificial Intelligence, its Meaning, Types and Other Details with Real Life Examples

Introduction

For modern online business tycoons, your vital information is their biggest capital. Selling personal data is now-a-days a billion dollar deal. Facebook's data breach made headline in the year 2018. The famous search engine google is now a package of products. They not only make searches for you but they provide manifest services including your entertainment through videos, music, and many other things. In fact, the famous video streaming platform YouTube is also one of their many useful products.
But the giant google is outsmarting its competitors through its sophisticated artificial intelligence or algorithm mechanism.

What is Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence or AI is the learning capacity of a machine for self decision making by the machine itself. You can call it as an artificial brain. Artificial Intelligence aims to stimulate a human brain in a machine so that once taught the machine would be able to perform all assigned (even unassigned) tasks based on the signals it acquire from the environment without any repeated directions from the operator of the machine.
For example, a Reaper Machine can harvest paddy only when you operate it over the paddy field. But, with AI, the Reaper Machine would recognize your paddy field and do the job without your effort to run the machine.

Types of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence has been categorized differently by the different researchers. Their categories mostly depend upon the nature of development, level of intelligence, use and behaviour of AI etc. But, in general and broader sense, the AI mechanism can be distinguished into three divisions:-
                    i) Artificial Narrow Intelligence
                    ii) Artificial General Intelligence
                    iii) Artificial General Intelligence

How does Google or Youtube use AI?

The trailblazing AI technology or algorithm mechanism is the biggest trade secret of Google and its by-products. Youtube, being a part of Google's extra large family also uses similar mechanism to outshine in the field of video streaming. Perhaps, we all are habituated so far to watch videos on Youtube. We have different tastes in different genres. You must have observed that whatever searches you made in the past, similar videos appear in your home page next time you open Youtube. This is called Browse Feature. Youtube's algorithm keeps a record of your watch history so that they can recommend you the similar videos. This mechanism is beneficial for Youtube because they can keep their customer's preferences intact.
So often, google and YouTube rely upon their algorithm mechanism to banner different personalized advertisements for different users. Their machine learning algorithms scan your browse history or the patterns of your surfing the internet, and based on it they flashes advertisements of your choices next time you visit their platforms. The google's ad service is one of the biggest e-Market ever created in the history of internet. The business companies see it as a platform to sell their products, and google is accustomed to provide them the target market. The companies sign advertisement deals with Google for a price that may be in million to billion.
Once Google receives a consignment, their next step is to force the customers to buy the products of their clients. But how will they force the customers? Not at gun point! But they will better read the mind of the customers and find out who will buy what. On successful location of the customers, they will now serve personalized ads. As they have a clear picture of the tastes and preferences of their customers, the possibility is on higher side that the targeted customers will buy the products. Thus, Google has done their part of agreement with the big companies. A successful deal is over.
Google's ad services work on every platform not excepting Youtube. So, you often notice that the ads that pop up in front of you are a simile of your likes and tastes. Don't worry, trust Youtube, they know you better than you do.

We, the Infobell citing you a Real Life Example.

This incident happened with us on 29th of February, 2020. Infobell team has to work for this blog by sitting before computers for long hours. Week-long itinerary before a computer often takes heavily on our eyes by the end of the week turning the eyes into red balls of volcano outbreak. Itching and watery discharging from eyes come as bonus.
That day, one of our team members complained of such eye problems and we got into a conversation on the issue. We had a talk on it over Whatsapp messages in our work group. We found no good solution and we left our conversation  with a despondent heart. Suddenly something happened which blew our mind completely out of wit. He forwarded a link of a video hours after we had ended our discussion with no sign of great outcome. We opened it without thinking twice. Lo! the link sailed us up to a video which described the eye issues caused by overuse of computers and mobiles and also embodied the solutions of it. Our curiosity got deeper because the member who was asking for our help on his eye problem only a few hours back, now sending us the cure all by himself. We asked him for a explanation.
The revelation was astonishing enough to make our head sink in whirlpool. He said, "I got this video recommended by Youtube." We thought he might have got such recommendations as he might be searching for it in the past. We continued our interrogation, "Have you searched for it?" The answer really put our head into a whirlpool. "No, never.", he uttered it confidently.
We all were left in surprise. How did YouTube make out that our member was in need of a solution for his eye problem? The video showed that the common eye problem caused due to sitting before computer is all because of the blue rays that sparks from the computer screen. And the ultimate solution of the problem is the blue ray sunglasses which can prevent the blue rays from entering into our eyes. The price ranges of such glasses start from INR Five Hundred onward. Thus Youtube acted as a middleman to successfully strike a deal of blue ray sun glasses.

AI Cracking Your Mind is not a New Surprise!

The AI technology is so far in its development stage. But still it can bypass human brains in many instances.Back in 2012, a shopping outlet named Target in Minneapolis allegedly sent coupons of baby products to a teen girl. The mail comprising such products which were meant for pregnant women became controversial when sent to such a tiny young girl. Her father got angry and went to the outlet scrounging for an explanation from the manager.
The management had no option but to ask for pardon for the mistake. Actually their shopping mall was using a customer tracking programme developed by a statistical genius Andrew Pole. The customer tracking  programme could trace down the customers buying habits and accordingly the system could generate automatic mails comprising of various offer coupons which best suit the customers. Pole cataloged 25 different products which are suitable for pregnant ladies.
Later when the father came back home and had a detailed discussion with his daughter and his family, the truth came out in a different shape. The teen girl, a girl studying in high school level, was actually pregnant without even the knowledge of her father. The bitter truth here was that the machine brain outsmarted humans.
