3.(a) What was the meaning of Panchayat long ago?
Answer(a): Panchayat meant a system of governance by five elderly men called Panch Gramin Pramukh.

3.(b) What is the meaning of Panchayat now?

Answer(b): Nowadays, anyone who is above 21 can contest Panchayat elections. Panchayat means a body that is responsible for the development of villages. Panchayat is a very important institution for social change.  The Constitution of India grants power to the Panchayat to raise taxes, plan development schemes, and work for local development.
3.(c) What kind of work is done by the Panchayat?

Answer(c): Panchayat works for the development of the village, builds and repairs rural roads, houses for the poor, and so on.

3.(d) From where does the Panchayat get money to perform all its work?
Answer(d): To perform all its work The panchayat raises money from taxes on vehicles, river ghats, bazaars, and beels, etc. Panchayat also gets an annual grant from the Panchayat and Rural Development Department of the Government.

3.(e) How did the Panchayat help Dhaniram?
Answer(e): Panchayat helped Dhaniram by building a house for him.

Answer(f): Dhaniram spends the bitterly cold December nights on the open verandah of the school building.

Good morning! 
Respected Principal, teachers, parents, and my dear friends. I am Anshu Giri. Today I am going to talk about First prime minister of our independent India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was born on 14th November 1889 at Allahabad. He is so known as the architect of our nation. He was deeply influenced by the Father of our nation Mahatma Gandhiji. He was a great freedom fighter who led India in its fight against the British rule. After serving the nation he died on 27th 1964. His life story is a source of inspiration for all of us.

6. Discuss in small groups:

(a) If you want to help the needy, would it be fine to do it immediately? Why or why not?

Answer: If any person is in need, I will help needy person immediately because, if I will help them in their hard times, it will help them to tackle their hard situation and will able to lead their future life happily. 

(b) How would you like to help a person with special needs? Share your ideas in your group.

Answer: I would help by providing their basics need, like foods, shelter, clothes and by donating a sufficient amount of money by which they will overcome their problems and lead their life happily.

(c) Did Konke Mili Plan the right thing to help Dhaniram ? Give more suggestions.

Answer: Yes Konke Mili did all the rights things to help Dhaniram by building a house and providing all his basics needs.
Here I would like to suggest that, Konke Mili should have also provided a job for Dhaniram according to his Capability.

7. Dokchory will work for the panchayat when she finishes school. Write a paragraph on what you will do for your village or town when you grow up.

Answer: I want my city to be counted as a smart city. For that, I can do anything for the development of my city. I want big schools, hospitals and other facilities to be inbuilt in my city. I know that for this purpose a huge amount of money is required. But, our leaders have the capacity to do the magical change. In order to develop my city, I may even contest in an election so that I can serve my best for my city.
